In the midst of extreme frustration, while renovating my ancient apartment, this painting came to life. The most difficult moments of this project kept me awake during many nights. The imagery of intense heat and the power of volcanic magma represents our need to release frustrations and misunderstandings to avoid destructive, emotional eruptions. I was challenged to extinguish this tension. As extremely hot molten lava beneath the surface of the earth eventually builds up pressure and erupts, this scene of magma release illustrates the emotional eruptions I experienced during those frustrating moments.
